The current political instability in Egypt forced the race organiser to postpone the Ocean Floor Race to October this year.
So change of plan – next stop is the Simpson Desert, Australia! I signed up for the Big Red Run, a 6-day multi-stage, 250-km race in our very own backyard. Getting to the start is already an achievement on its own, and I am not talking training here but driving the Birdsville Track from Adelaide to Birdsville following the traces of the famous mail run into the heart of Australia.
Having a good 17 weeks to train for this event means a few more preparation races to test all the gear needed to get me safe and sound to the finish line and celebration beer at the Birdsville Pub in July.
First stop, most likely I will be running the 55km Sydney Coastrek begin of March supporting the over 3,000 trekkers who all fundraise for The Fred Hollows Foundation.
